Emergency room!!! First tooth!

On Sunday morning Vander woke up with a bit of a cough. By Sunday afternoon he was wheezing. We called the advice nurse and they said that we needed to come in. We were supposed to go to a party and had already made the food. We thought we might make it a little late, but Vander was admitted to the emergency room. He was given a gown to put on and a breathing treatment. We were told that they thought he had bronchiolitus (not sure about the spelling), but not bronchitus. He also had asthma-like symptoms. We ended up staying over night. They put him on an IV and albuterol treatments every 2 hours. He also had an ear infection... and you won't believe this one.. he cut his first tooth while we were in the emergency room! Vander was woken up every hour to be poked and prodded- what an aweful night. It was a terrible night, but Vander bounced back and they let him go home almost exactly 24 hours after we arrived... on 3 medications, but he is on the mend. He is not wheezing anymore, but he is still congested. He should be better soon. He has now officially been sick 4 times this winter-no more please!

Santa

I took Vander to go see Santa with all his baby friends on Tuesday, and he was the best behaved of the bunch. It was really cute. I thought people might like to see them.

Eating mess

I have never seen anyone make such a mess when they were eating. Granted it's been a while since I have been around babies eating solid foods, but Vander just doesn't get it, or he doesn't want to get it. He does not cooperate at all. We have been feeding him "solid" foods for 3 weeks and he still doesn't swallow much, but he does get the food everywhere. I'm not sure what to do. I guess I will just keep trying. I am thinking he needs to watch us eat. I usually eat before he gets up and after he goes down for a nap, so I guess he doesn't see people using spoons very often. Maybe that is my fault. Ack!

The Name Game

In order to understand what I post I feel it is necissary to inform the average reader that everyone on Justin's side of the family has chosen to go by a non-traditional (as far as general American tradition goes) name:
Larry, Vander's grandpa is going by Pops.
Theresa, Vander's grandma is going by Grammy.
Vander's great grandparents on Theresa's side are going by GG Ma and GG Pa.
Justin's cousin Heather (Vander's second cousin) wants to be called Aunt Heather.
Justin's aunt Deb (Vander's Great Aunt) wants to be called Granty.
Justin's grandparents on Larry's side are going by the traditional Jewish names of Bubby and Zadie.

So, if you get confused as to who I am referring to, here is your cheat sheet. Everyone on my side of the family is going by the traditional relationship name to the best of my knowledge.

Sick again!!!

I can't believe this is happening again! Vander was really sick Saturday, but he is feeling better now. He has been really wheezy. Yucko. Being sick is aweful... Justin and I both are sick too. I don't know where we are getting this from but I am really sick of being sick and Vander and Justin are too!

On a brighter note, Vander's uncle Colby came down for 3 days from Humbolt and spent some time with all of us for Thankgiving. We went to Grammy and Pop's house and had a traditional Thanksgiving meal. He was a very good boy. Auntie Heather was there too. He was awake and playful and slept during the meal... how convenient...
