Cookie pops with Hannah

We went over to Hannah's house to hang out and she let the boys decorate some cookie pops. She had made cookie dough earlier that morning. She rolled it into balls and put it on a stick on a cookie sheet. She got out tons of different candy and let the boys decorate. They ate tons of candy, then did some pretty awesome decorating. It was a lot of fun, and Vander is already talking about how he wants to do it again. :)

Uncle Colby came to see us

I always get really excited to spend time with my family and my brothers are for sure at the top of the list. I didn't get to see Colb as much as I would have liked, but I'll take what I can get. To be honest, I actually really loved it when he lived with us for the summer a few years back. Anyway, he came and spent Sunday with us. The boys did some finger painting on cardboard and Colby got in on the fun. Colby also played some games with Justin and I. Colby had to leave early on Monday for his class, but hey he's only 3 1/2 hours a way now that he is living in Chico, CA, which sure beats 6 hours like when he was in Arcata, CA.

Justin and I got Iphone 4's.

How exciting is it that we went from the bottom of the line phones that could only make phone calls to the top of the line phones that can do pretty much everything...super exciting. Justin decided if we were going to get texting, that we may as well get data too and a phone that could support it. Sweet. No complaints here, my new phone is super cool. (And it has a bright pink case- LOVE it)!

Little Gym camp: Dinosaurs and Dragons

Vander got to go go 2 days of camp and he absolutely loved it. He told me his favorite part was eating pretzels. But, his second favorite part was jumping on the dots, running from the snakes, and doing the art projects. I know the first day he was pretty hesitant when I told him that I wasn't staying (though I did just in case, but outside so he didn't see me the whole time). The second time I left him though he was eager for me to leave so he could start the fun! How awesome. I'm so proud of him. He is becoming so much more independent and just in time too. Preschool starts next week. :) I'm sure it helped that one of his best buddies, Sabrina, was there with him.

Getting Vocal

Oliven walks around the house saying "aqua doodle." We are all impressed. He is really picking up a lot of vocabulary. Vander says to us, "I have a question," or, "I have a statement."

Swimming lessons again

Vander really really really loved swim lessons and he made sure I knew that. In fact he asked me when he was going to get to take more like every day...so, being the awesome parents that we strive to be we signed him up for more lessons. They were at 6pm (the only time slot left) in Morgan Hill- this time he was a jellyfish. He loved going. They were at the Morgan Hill Aquatic Center where to our surprise there was an awesome water area and 1 1/2 foot pool with water slides. It was really awesome. Sadly, Oliven only got to enjoy it once before they shut it down for the season, but Vander got to enjoy it a few times. (Oliven did, however, cherish the fact that he got mommy all to himself for hours at a time). The whole experience was really pretty great. The only down side was the timing because dinner at 5pm was sometimes quite a challenge. We will not miss getting back to our regular schedule and I am super excited to have a little fish who can't wait for next summer to go swimming again! Love it!!!

Gilroy Gardens revisited again

Just so everyone knows that our home away from home is officially Gilroy Gardens, followed by the Children's Discovery Museum...we went again today. This time Tom, Sarah and Emma joined us. We had a good time. It was too cold to go in the water area- again. How is it too cold in the summer...baffling.

Thanks Vander, I needed that.

This morning Vander looked at me and said, "Hi sweet lady. I wanted to call you sweet lady because you do sweet things for me all the time." Nicest thing he's ever said to me. :) Honestly I think my 3 year old just essentially said, "Thanks for doing a good job mom." He also asked if he could marry me some times and if that would make him like a daddy.

Zoo cake

A friend asked me to help her our by making a cake for her twins who are turning 1 with a  Zoo theme. I forget how many dishes cakes make, but it was fun, and I know she appreciates it. Here is the final result.

Uncle Colby lightning quick

We saw Colby from 9pm Wed. to 11am Thursday. Not much time, but we were very happy to see his face after 3 months of not seeing him. I missed him very very much.

Migraines and a block party I vaguely remember.

Sunday I hosted a block party for my street. I don't remember much of it because I got a migraine shortly after it started that didn't really go away until Wednesday night! Yikes. No fun. No more talking about it. It's gone now and that is what matters.

Games

Our friends Michael and Nicole came over to play games with us on Friday night and again on Sunday night. Justin couldn't have been happier. Friday night we played 3 games of Pandemic, it took 3 because we lost the first 2. On Sunday night we started out with Settlers (what a close game, Nicole and I both had 9 points, Justin won, but if he hadn't I would have and I was next and Michael had 7 points-not bad at all) and ended with a winning game of Pandemic.

Costco for lunch

We went to Barnes and Noble and Bed, Bath and Beyond, and since we were in the area we decided to go to Costco for lunch. The boys really enjoyed all the samples.

Anniversary

Justin and I have been married for 7 years. It doesn't seem that long, until you realize we have been together almost 12 years, which still isn't that long until you think that that is 1/3 of our lives. That seems pretty significant. We decided this year to get pedicures, have Chinese food, and go see the last Harry Potter movie. It was a fun evening. Thanks to Larry and Theresa for watching the boys so that we could go out. :) The boys always have such a great time with his grandparents. Vander was thrilled to get to watch the Phineas and Ferb movie with Grammy and Pops.

Children's Discovery Museum

Busy making our year passes worth the $. It is getting harder to go with the two boys by myself though because Oliven is running now, which means two boys, two different directions and FAST! Vander painted his own nose. They enjoyed excavating mammoth bones. They are wearing their Bat-moose shirts that Grantie Deb got them in Colorado. :)

Pump it Up Jr. with Daddy

In the lobby while waiting for Vander to go potty.
We had a great time taking Justin with us to Pump it Up Jr. Let me just say when we left it wasn't just 2 exhausted kids, it was 2 exhausted parents too. I think we did the obstacle course at least 5 times and lots of sliding and bouncing. We all had a blast. Vander got to play air hockey for the first time. One game against each parent. He held his own.
